while these did not turn out as beautifully as those pictured on smitten kitchen, they most certainly turned out delicious!  i did neglect these a bit by not stirring as often as i probably should have, and letting them cool with absolutely no attention from me so that they formed hard candy edges all around them and i had to manhandle them apart. but we’re talking sugar and salt and spices and nuts here.  i mean, what’s not to love, pretty or not?

aaaaand i just ate that whole bowlful.  at the rate these are disappearing, i may need to make another batch before thanksgiving dinner.
