strawberry pillowcase

am i the only one that is totally in love with heather ross’s new collection, briar rose? apparently not! there are so many adorable things out there being made with these fabrics – do yourself a treat and google briar rose heather ross right now.  i particularly love this shirt that rae made from the knit strawberries, and i kinda want to copy it for myself. but i won’t.

i’ve been slowly hoarding some of these (in both wovens and knits!) and i started by making the bee some pillowcases for nap time at preschool using two fabrics from this collection. these have a really soft hand and are perfect for snuggling!  i used this pillowcase tutorial, sizing it to fit her tiny pillow. this method creates a pillowcase with a wide band and hidden seams.

it’s just a little pillow (16″ x 19″) for a little cot! the orange is a shot cotton – also very soft and lovely.

i’ll have to photograph the second pillowcase when it comes home for washing. of course i finished these the night before they were needed!

and you can expect to see more briar rose fabrics here for a while!
