i’ve been learning flat pattern drafting, specifically using illustrator. it’s been kind of crazy hard (the drafting, not so much the illustrator part), and in typical fashion i have bitten off more than i can chew. but look how cute my model is!

this is my first attempt at drafting using illustrator. this dress is a size 4 (the bee is between a 2 and a 3), which accounts for some of it’s huge-ness, but not all.

the good news is that the bee loves it! she says it’s “so cozy”, which i will count as an endorsement of the direction i’m headed! so cozy in fact that she is wearing it pre-hemming of the sleeves and dress. the bodice is a thrifted tee, and the bottom is that baby rib stuff, which i hadn’t found very useful until i tried it in a dress. it is cozy! the collar is a scrap of quilting cotton, which could definitely lay flatter.

i’ll get there eventually, and i’ll share more of my progress as i get more comfortable!
